Memorial Day Weekend

Hey everyone!
I hope ya'll are having a great weekend :) We have had a great one! Friday afternoon we packed up and headed to my dads cabin up north, it was very nice to get away and relax and catch up with family. But I can't lie... The best part was being able to have a lot of ME time because of course everyone else in the family wanted to hog Derek the whole time we were there! :) Friday and Saturday were beautiful days but this morning it started to rain so we decided to go home early.
Derek had his first boat ride Friday evening and he HATED it. I am not sure if it was because he hated his life jacket or if he didn't like the wind blowing in his face... I am guessing it is a combination of the two. We tried to stick the life jacket on him again yesterday afternoon so we could spend the after noon on the pontoon but he had none of it! My dad stayed back and had some grandfather/grandson bonding time!
I have also decided after being in a bikini for the 2nd time this summer that I need a personal trainer. I am not sure what happened but I feel like I gained a bazillion pounds this month :/ so I am heading up to the local gym bright and early Tuesday morning to consult with a personal trainer, I am hoping that I do not have to buy a membership since the clubhouse in my neighborhood has a gym and I pay for it with association fees. I JUST WANT THE PERSONAL TRAINER!

Here is my little stud muffin chewing on Sophie and sitting in his swing outside!

I hope everyone enjoys their Memorial Day tomorrow!

Zoloft and My Adventures With PPD.

Let me start off by saying that my Postpartum Depression is very mild and I have officially been on Zoloft for about a month now and what a change I have seen in myself. I don't think bad thoughts about my son or I, I don't want to hurt myself and I don't cry 24/7... I think the main component of my PPD is the fact that my life changed dramatically after having Derek (just like every other mom/dads did) and when I got pregnant I never wanted to have children and I was not preparing myself to be a mom like many others probably were. So when I found out I was pregnant surprisingly I was SUPER excited but still super selfish. I am filled with so much love every single day for this little dude and I am so happy that he is in my life but there are some days where I find myself wanting to spend hundreds of dollars on myself on new clothes.. etc and I know that I cannot do that. The hardest thing is now balancing my social life with my life with the baby. None of my close friends have children so that also makes it hard to connect with them the way that I used to be able to, all of them however have been extremely supportive but they don't understand what I am going through. Then there are some days where I wish I could be out with my friends on those Tuscaloosa Saturday nights, I wish I could go to Alabama football games and sit in the student section and sneak flasks in under our dresses like the good old days. Sometimes my college friends will text me and tell me to "come back to Tuscaloosa" and when I get those messages I know that I am missed but it doesn't help all of those feelings coming back to me and it definitely doesn't help with adjusting to my new life. The hardest thing is adjusting... Some people adjust well and others do not. I am a work in progress.

I cant even begin to understand how hard it must be for all of those girls on 16 and Pregnant to balance everything. Because if it has been hard on me being 21... It has to be hard on those girls who are far more immature.

Everyday I am feeling much better and I am finding myself being able to handle all of the obstacles of being a mom 150X better! And as I am writing this Derek is playing in his rain forest jumperoo just giggling away! He is the best little guy ever :) I am blessed.

I will probably post more about PPD when I feel it necessary or if I am just having one of those days where I have to vent.

Outfit - May 26th

Here is my laid back outfit for the day! I spruced it up with some cute sandals!

(Oh hey Derek in the background! :)

Top: Moda International you can find it at victoriassecret.com
Shorts: Mossimo by Target
Shoes: Qupid and I found them at a local store named Heartbreakers

Now take a look at my closet... I think I need a new one because I am probably the only 20 something without a walk in. WTF! All of my clothes are crammed in and almost half of my wardrobe is black, I think I need a color makeover!

GNO!

Friday night two of my best girlfriends (Allie and Ashley) decided that we were in need of a GIRLS NIGHT OUT and boy was it wonderful! We went to Chino Latino which is in Uptown, Minneapolis and had a great dinner and chatted like we were teenage girls again! I love my friends :)After dinner we broke the bank at a local store called Heartbreakers and then hit up the semi annual sale at Victoria's Secret and I scored some good finds!
I quickly returned home though because Derek was very cranky and he needed some momma kisses and hugs! The poor little bugger is teething like crazy and I finally ordered him a Sophie the Giraffe, it will be here tomorrow and I am so excited!
Here are some pictures of girls night out!

Happy (late) Mothers Day!

Hey ya'll!
I hope everyone had a wonderful Mothers day! I know that I did :)
I received 2 lovely flower bouquets from my mom and one from B!
Our plans for the day were somewhat ruined once the weather turned dark and nasty! We had planned on going down to the old mill in the historic part of town and walk around the paths and have a picnic! But instead B cooked me a delicious Italian dinner and we had wine :)
It was simply a wonderful FIRST mothers day!

Stroll In The Park :)

Mommy, Daddy and Derek went on a walk today through Roswell Rec!
It was nice and relaxing and it was fun seeing all of the families playing with their kids at the playground and its weird thinking that will be Derek in just a few years!! I also cant wait to see B teach Derek baseball! :)
Here are a couple pictures of our afternoon (and of course I changed outfits ;)

My Outfit Today!

Hey ya'll look how cute I look today! ;)
I love my outfit, but it will probably become steaming hot and I will have to change....
Sometimes I will randomly post on this blog pictures of my outfits! I love fashion and it used to be my major, but things changed when Derek was born! Now I am a full blown Marketing major hoping I can still do something in fashion. We shall see!

Cardigan: Vera Wang from Kohls.
Yellow Shirt: I.N.C from Macys.
Boyfriend Jeans: Lauren Conrad Collection from Kohls.

One Year Ago

One year ago my life changed in a huge way! But before all of those big changes I was a carefree college student at the University of Alabama. I didn't really care about much of anything except myself, my boy friend and that cute dress hanging in my closet and trying to figure out where I would wear it. One year ago I attended classes and parties and I thought I was living the good life :) One year ago.... I had no idea what huge changes were happening in my life, because I was too busy doing this...

This is where it all changes.... On May 4th, 2009 I peed on a stick and got my BIG FAT POSITIVE. I remember all of these emotions going through my head "oh god, its the beginning of finals week I wont be able to concentrate" "how am I going to take care of a baby" "holy crap I am super excited!"
Now I make bottles, change diapers and play with my little man instead of worrying about the unimportant things in life. Derek has been the biggest blessing in my life and I thank God for him every single day and as he is napping in his swing right now I am overtaken with HUGE amounts of love. I have never loved someone SO much before, He is my world :) And NOW I know for sure that I am living the good life!
Now I am busy doing this....

Life is SIMPLY beautiful!

Rainy/Lazy Day in Georgia

As I sit here relaxing after a lazy day sipping my cocktail and listening to Derek play on his mat, laughing at the toys hanging in front of his face I remember that these are the days that I live for. We didn't get dressed today because we stayed in our jammies and took long naps and watched Young and the Restless. Today has been great and I love days like these.
Derek is army crawling, slowly but surely he is getting to the places he wants, he will grasp the end of his play mat and pull himself forward to the giraffe that is front of him that he wants so badly! I am proud of my boy :)
I finished the last of my finals today which was a huge relief for this mama and I only have a couple pages left of my Anthropology paper, yay!

We tried oatmeal with Derek last night after a terrible meltdown with rice cereal last week. Lets just say, I was totally terrified to try solids again because I wasn't prepared to deal with screaming for hours and hours again.... BUT it was a success, and he poo'd normal today so the oatmeal didn't constipate him like the rice cereal did! SCORE.

Keeping Up

I am so sorry that I have not kept up with this blog! I have finally decided to start doing so because I think it is a great way to let my feelings out and talk about the things I find important!
So welcome and thank you for coming on this adventure with me! :)
