Could our best friends be our worst enemies?

Don't get me wrong I am all about girl power and I totally believe in the strength of friendships but after reading an article in Marie Claire about best friends it seriously got me thinking. Could our best friends be our worst enemies?
The article is mainly about always agreeing with our friends. For example one of your best girls breaks up with her boyfriend and of course when she comes to you for advice you simply explain "you were too good for him!" and "yay he was an ass!" But what if you didn't really think that and you were just agreeing with your friend who probably said the same thing out of anger by being the dumper or the dumpee.
I see it everyday with my friends and I. They come to me asking if they made the right decision and usually I say "of course you did and that you are better off without him" but sometimes I am thinking in my head what a big mistake that was and how I really did think they were good for each other. I will usually sneak in something about how I think they should work things out... etc.

But why as women do we always feel that we have to agree with each other? Do we feel as if we are breaking some code of friendship if we don't offer sentiments of happiness when someone breaks up with their boyfriend? I guess I would rather have friends who disagreed with me than always agreed with me.

Memorial Day Photos... A Week Late...

Last Night Was a Tough One and A Whole Lotta Randomness

Derek is teething.... Teething horrendously. He may not look a thing like me but he sure has my attitude and a knack for drama. Let me tell you, this boy can SCREAM like none other. The poor little guy was crying all night and at my wits end I finally remembered "ORAJEL!" :it chimed in my head like a glorious chorus: I rubbed the Orajel on his gums and like magic the boy stopped crying and fell asleep in my arms as I rocked him back and forth and finally put him down to sleep at 9:30, I thought he was out for the night.
Boy was I wrong - Screaming at 1 AM, screaming at 3 AM and screaming at 5 AM!!!!! Could these two bottom teeth just POP through already! I am sick of seeing my baby in pain and I especially hate seeing him cry tears down his face :/ On a happier note he has been smiling and giggly all morning and afternoon so far. But the breakdown will start again around 4 PM and 8 PM like it has for the past week. So until then I am going to enjoy my cutie pa tootie!

Other than being busy with a cranky baby I have been busy with the 30 Day Shred. I upped my level to 2 and it is kicking my butt. I am glad that I moved up to level 2 though because when I started back on Level 1 it was not getting my heart pumping and I didn't feel as if I were getting a good workout.

I am also on my third laptop of the month. My 1st laptop was an HP and the screen broke apart from rest of the computer but it still worked, then I replaced it with an Acer and it was a really nice computer that was a touch screen and all! So I broke the HP probably back in December but in April I dropped the Acer and the screen cracked, it still worked but then all of a sudden last week it wouldn't turn on.... So that computer is done with, then I went back to my HP because it still worked and even thought it was kind of ghetto for me to be using a computer with the screen just hanging there I did. So on Tuesday my HP decided it didn't want to turn on anymore either! UH, so I contacted my dad and he gave me an IBM Think pad from work, it is a work computer but it seems pretty durable so I dont think the screen is going to be hanging anytime soon and if I do drop this computer I think it will be okay.
I am terrible with electronics, obviously.

Thankful on a Thursday

I am so thankful for this beautiful weather that we have had recently but I am more importantly thankful for my wonderful friends. It is true that you can count the number of true friends on 1 hand, I have three.

Our Morning With Oatmeal and The Parent Trap

Good morning!
Derek starting eating rice cereal about a month ago and surprisingly he loved it, he would eat 2 tablespoons at a time! But a couple weeks ago I started introducing carrots, squash, sweet potatoes and peas and this morning I tried to feed him oatmeal for breakfast and he refused to it! WTH Derek you used to love oatmeal!?! I even tried to mix it with squash and he still refused with clamped lips and crying.I don't know what to do, my baby will never eat oatmeal again!

Derek is crying right now so I will have to cut this short but I read an interesting article in Elle Magazine titled "The Parent Trap" and its about if men have the right to choose when the mother wants the baby and the man doesn't.

Okay Derek is napping! Long story short a man and woman got together and decided that if they were ever to get pregnant they would terminate the pregnancy because neither of them were capable of being good parents at the time. She got pregnant and ended the pregnancy because the man wanted her to but she said that if he wasn't standing by her she would have kept the baby. Then she got pregnant again in 2009 and before the abortion she looked at the ultrasound and decided to keep the baby and told the man. He left her and when he was served with child support papers he decided to be the spokesperson for the National Center for Men on male reproductive rights. He thinks that the legal system is corrupt against men and also discriminates against them in custody arrangements. The man argues that reproductive choices are not a fundamental right if it is only limited to the person carrying the baby. Another man in the article brought a lawsuit called Roe v. Wade for Men to the court system. This man believed his girlfriend tricked him into getting her pregnant and his argument was that his girlfriend had the constitutional right to choose to end her pregnancy he had no comparable right. He was arguing that he shouldn't have to be financially responsible for a child that he didn't want.
Of course these men were publically chastised when they were bringing these views to the table, many media outlets told them that they were not stepping up to the plate and if you play you pay.
So what do you think? Do men have reproductive rights?

My 2 Favorite Baby Items!

There are two baby items that I would say have changed our lives and have made things easier for us.
Number 1 - The Infant Head Bed

Derek was starting to get a flat head and of course like any concerned mother I did my research and decided to buy this pillow and I would say within a couple of weeks his head started to round out! Now it is perfectly round and I never put Derek flat on his back without this pillow. I love it!
FYI we started using this around 3 months old.

Number 2 - Sophie the Giraffe

Derek is teething and he LOVES his Sophie the Giraffe! It has been such a huge help for teething and I am so glad I spent the 20.00 to buy him this. At first I was skeptical because I didn't want to buy him something that looked like a dog toy but I soon found out I was crazy not to have bought it sooner for him! He would chew on it all day if I let him! I bought this for a baby shower present and I hope the recipient will enjoy it as much as Derek has!

30 Day Shred

I have decided to start the 30 Day Shred... AGAIN.
This will be my second time at it and hopefully I will get past level 2 and not quit after 1 1/2 weeks. I was going to go to the local gym and have a consultation with a personal trainer but I thought in my head "why would I do that when I have Jillian Michaels"
I saw the DVD looming over me and it was beginning to get dusty so I decided to whip it out this afternoon and start on level 1! IT WAS EASY! I actually got through the workout without feeling like I was going to fall over and die. Derek napped so peacefully during my workout and he was still sleeping when I was done so I decided to haul out the stationary bike we have stored in the guest bedroom and I used that for another 30 minutes! One hour of working out today and I am feeling good! I think that this is something I am going to have to continue to do everyday, I will have to motivate myself but I am going to get down to my ideal weight which is 125 (I am 140 right now) I am already back down to pre pregnancy weight and I blame my gaining 20 pounds to the excessive studying I was doing in college ;) Not eating, cause I mean you make such great decisions at 3 AM when you are slightly intoxicated. I for example would decide to walk down the street to the greasiest little food stand in the middle of the strip in Tuscaloosa and order the biggest plate of messy fries, they were delicious but seriously bad for my figure. So I am going to try and be the weight I was when I graduated high school, is that far fetched? Probably, but it is worth a shot.
